“Rugby is something I’ve had a huge passion since I was a kid” says Ishara Madushan

Ishara Madushan played School Rugby as a wing three quarter for his alma mater Wesley College Colombo in the inter schools rugby championship. Then he went on to represent the Sri Lanka national seven a side rugby team.

At present he is turning out for Air Force rugby team in the inter club rugby tournament as an exceptional speedy wing three quarter.

Speaking to Daily News Ishara said “I was known to be a hyperactive child and due to that I’ve always been involved in running and many different sports activities since I was a child, hence it was the reason how I’ve got involved in sports since I was a child”.

“There are many people who have supported me to be the person who I am today, Mostly the ones I love the most, which would be my family and my faith has supported me the most and all my coaches. Hence I’m always grateful to all of them“.

“Rugby is a type of sport that builds a character of an individual in terms of discipline, stature, mindset and integrity likewise is the reason why I chose rugby “.

“Throughout my entire life my priorities are my family and rugby, hence I like to take care of my family and ensure that they live comfortably”.

“One of the most unforgettable incidents was when my college ‘Wesley’ became the 2013 Milo Trophy knockout champions beating Trinity College Kandy in the finals. Hence that incident will always be in my memory right throughout my whole life as one of the most unforgettable incidents to date”.

“I love to watch movies, rugby related videos on YouTube, go out and chill out with some of my friends as well as listen to songs, that’s how I spend my free time “.

“My favorite singers are Bathiya and Santhush (BnS) and my favourite song is Kavikariye by BnS “.

“To be honest I do not compare myself to anyone, because I understand that no one is perfect, hence what I do is, I look to be the best version of myself and improve day by day”.

“My favourite rugby player is Dan Norton from England national 7s rugby team”.

“My greatest accomplishment was being selected for the Sri Lanka senior national 7s team at the upcoming Asian sevens in UAE”.

“My favourite movie is - Harry Potter series and the favourite actor is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson”.

“The best compliment that i got was when a school boy from my school said that one day he wanted to be a rugby player like me, that is something I will never forget“.

“In life I always do something that I love the most and that is rugby and it is something I’ve had a huge passion for since I was a kid hence it is something I’m doing that I believe in”.

“Yes I am happy but I strive to achieve more goals in future, therefore I will keep working hard to achieve them”.

On a concluding note Anuradha said that he likes to describe himself as a humble and fun person in life”.
